Welcome home,”

This is how you will be greeted when you arrive at the off-the-beaten-path luxury destination of Komaneka Tanggayuda. Situated just 15 minutes drive from the cultural centre of Ubud in Bali, the five star resort is immersed in the forest and offers guests arguably one of the most rejuvenating accommodation experiences on the Indonesian island.

On arrival, you will be guided to the resort’s Balinese-style waiting area for a
complimentary drink, (extremely moreish) home-baked chocolate cookies
and ginger sweets. The manager greets you with a friendly explanation of the resort and its features before allocating a personal assistant to guide you to your room and provide an all-inclusive orientation. And, the rooms will not disappoint even the highest of expectations.

The Premium Valley Pool Villa has everything and anything you could everDSC00837 need during your stay. There is a delightful plunge pool overlooking the surrounding forest, double-sink bathroom, stand-alone bath, plush double bed and delightful outdoor shower flanked by sweet-scented flowers. The TV is loaded with every movie and song you could imagine (even Eat Pray Love if you want to reminisce), there is a coffee machine for your morning caffeine addiction and a cookie jar replenished daily.

Just when you think that you couldn’t be more impressed with Komaneka Tanggayuda, you discover the resort’s shared infinity pool.Overlooking the forest in a convenient location next to the restaurant is perhaps one of the most spectacular swimming pools you’ll find anywhere on the globe. Grab yourself a floating device and simply while away a few hours drifting at the forest’s edge.

Between 3 and 5 pm you are welcome to the resort’s complimentary floating2
afternoon tea comprised of freshly baked local sweets including the most tantalising banana bread you will ever put to your lips. Watch as local squirrels fling themselves around in the surrounding trees, listen to the faint chirp of birds and visit the nearby heated pool during sudden bouts of mountain rain (that surprisingly add more charm to the experience!) The friendly staff at the complex will bring your afternoon tea to the pool for you, so you don’t have to get out until the very last minute.

The onsite spa offers an assortment of treatments including facials and full-body Balinese massages to drain away those final pre-holiday-life strains. Anyone that can manage to drag themselves away from the deluxe pool area will encounter a tranquil outdoor treatment area complete with luxury robes and slippers.

When it comes to eating options, Komaneka Tanggayuda does not disappoint. Enjoy in-room dining to make the most of the villa’s balcony overlooking the forest or bask in the relaxed atmosphere at the resort’s restaurant where you can sample some of Bali’s best cuisine. Komaneka Tanggayuda incorporates local traditions, cuisines and art into their aesthetic and dining, offering guests insight into the island’s rich culture and encouraging you to get out there and explore the surrounding area.

When you return to your room in the evening, the turn down service is a welcome touch. The provided sleep-wear is a highlight, offering a silky cocoon to enjoy a night’s sleep in. DSC00466In the morning, breakfast is a feast to behold. Choose from one of many breakfast options, offering an impressive (and difficult to conquer) four courses each. Venture outside of your comfort zone and choose the Indonesian Breakfast to eat like a local. If you don’t feel like making the short walk to the restaurant, simply call your personal assistant and organize breakfast in your room without paying a surcharge (this way you won’t have to get out of your delightful sleep wear or slippers)

The resort has a complimentary shuttle to Ubud that leaves on the hour every hour until 8 pm at night. Choose from one of their pre-organised activities or simply wander around Ubud admiring its laid-back alternate charm, ancient temples and unbeatable cafes offering the freshest of the areas produce. Get lost in art galleries, wander amid the rice fields or brave a close encounter at Monkey Forest. The latest shuttle back to the resort leaves after 10:00 pm, giving you the opportunity to explore all day long before being driven home.
